A study published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine found that women with ring fingers longer than their index fingers performed better at running and associated sports such as soccer and tennis.
Changes in testosterone levels in the womb were initially thought to be the reason but now, Prof Tim Spector from King's college, who studied twins and their sporting achievements, says that genes are the reason. As he points out, "Finger length is a marker of your genes".
